Objectives

  • To help students gain an understanding of what information disorder is and how it can be characterised.

Description

  1. Divide students in groups of approximately 4 students.
  2. After having had a class on information disorder, the task for each group is to come up with three quiz questions based on what they learned from the class. Students get about 15 minutes time to come up with the quiz questions. The questions should be in a multiple choice format with three or four answer options. An example of a question could be: “Which is not a type of information disorder?” A. Malinformation, B. Misinformation, C. Online hate speech, D.Disinformation
  3. After 15 minutes, the teacher collects the proposed quiz questions and takes 10 minutes to review them and input them into an online quiz platform such as Kahoot.
  4. When the quiz is finished, the class can play the quiz together and see who gets the highest score!

Advice for Facilitators

Use the COSTAID guidelines as a source of information and a reference for teaching about information disorder.

 It is also possible to let the students come up with quiz questions as homework so the teacher has more time to put the questions into the quiz tool.
