Objectives

The main objective of this activity is to increase the awareness of social media users about the importance of the self-care.

  • Students
  • Adolescent youth
  • Educators, trainers, councillors, youth workers

Description

This is activity for individual or for small group.

STEP 1: Facilitator will ask participant(s) to thing about possible rules for emotional and mental wellbeing in connection to healthy use of social media. Facilitator will give participants 10 minutes time for thinking and writing down rules which they consider valid.

STEP 2: After suggested period of the time, group will present their rules. Facilitator will use the handout, to compare their approach with suggested rules. Participant(s) together with facilitator discuss how much they matched their suggestions with those given in handouts.

Facilitator will ask them:

  • if they already encounter uncertainty or stress while using social media.
  • if they can imagine switching off social media
  • how many social media types they use (FB, X, etc.) and if they are anxious when they are away for some amount of time.

 Deeper discussion might follow.
