Description
Information processing and media literacy are intertwined with personal values and ethics. This activity is designed to help participants understand their personal traits better regarding the perceiving information. The activity can be performed in groups as well as an individual assignment; however, sharing the written texts is performed within a group.
Introduction (10 minutes)
The facilitator opens the activity by explaining the rules and procedures of the activity as well as the specifics of the reflective writing, which is personal (in the I-format), analytical, subjective, considering personal assumptions.
Reflective Writing (30 minutes)
The facilitator provides a thought-provoking prompt to guide participants' reflective writing. For example: "Reflect on a significant public event that shaped your perspective. Explore how this experience influenced your beliefs, values, and actions." Encourage participants to write freely and openly, without worrying about grammar or structure.
Sharing (15 minutes)
The participants share their writing with the audience. The audience is expected to comment and ask question about the interpretation of the event.
Debriefing (5 minutes)
The facilitator wraps up the discussion by asking the participants to reflect on the process of reflective writing and encourage them to share insights they gained about themselves, any challenges they faced during the activity, and strategies they used to overcome those challenges.
